Start at Palm Beach

Palm Beach is one of the easiest places in Aruba to begin your February Instagram trail. The long stretch of soft sand, clear turquoise water and gently swaying palms gives you plenty of classic Caribbean views, while the calm sea makes it easy to spend time in the water between photographs.

Arrive early for softer light and a quieter shoreline. A paddleboard, a colourful towel or a pair of sandals beside the water can add a relaxed holiday feel to your images without making them look staged. February is a popular month to visit Aruba, so an early start is also a good way to enjoy the beach before it becomes busier.

Eagle Beach is famous for its wide, open sands and distinctive fofoti trees, often called Divi Divi trees. Their windswept shapes are among the most recognisable sights in Aruba and make a simple beach photograph instantly feel connected to the island.

Walk along the shoreline in the late afternoon, when the lower sun brings out warm tones in the sand and creates long shadows beneath the trees. The beach is spacious enough to find a peaceful viewpoint, and the shallow water provides a clean, uncluttered background for portraits or landscape shots.

Explore the coastline

For something more rugged, head towards Aruba’s northern coast and the remains of the Natural Bridge area. Waves crash against the dark rock, creating a striking contrast with the island’s bright sky and usually calm, dry landscape. It is a very different side of Aruba from the resort beaches.

Stay behind marked barriers and choose a viewpoint that keeps the sea and rock formations in proportion. The coastal light can be particularly strong in February, so a morning visit or a late-afternoon trip will usually give your photographs more detail and fewer harsh shadows.

Find colour in Oranjestad

Aruba’s capital, Oranjestad, is ideal for colourful street photography. Look for pastel façades, Dutch-influenced architecture, local shops and brightly painted details around the harbour. The compact centre is easy to explore on foot, making it simple to pause whenever you spot an interesting doorway or sign.

Try photographing the town in the morning, when the streets feel relaxed and the light is clear. Take time to include small details as well as wider scenes: a display of local crafts, a painted wall or a plate of fresh seafood can help tell the story of your February holiday.

Capture sunset moments

Finish your Instagram day on the beach as the sun drops towards the horizon. Aruba’s west coast is especially well placed for sunset, with the sky often changing from gold to orange and pink while the sea remains wonderfully calm.

Put your phone down occasionally and enjoy the view, then take a few simple photographs rather than trying to record every moment. A silhouette of two people walking by the water, or a drink held against the evening sky, can capture the relaxed atmosphere of Aruba far better than an over-planned image.
