Virgin Gorda is famous for The Baths, where enormous granite boulders create natural pools, tunnels and sea-level passages beside a lovely beach. It is one of the most memorable sights in the British Virgin Islands and is best explored at an unhurried pace, with time for a swim afterwards.

For a classic beach day, head to Smuggler’s Cove on Tortola or take a boat to Jost Van Dyke. White Bay is known for its soft sand, clear water and friendly beach bars, while quieter spots such as Little Jost Van Dyke offer a more peaceful setting for swimming and sunbathing.

The British Virgin Islands are among the Caribbean’s best sailing destinations. The islands are close enough together for convenient day trips, while sheltered waters and dependable trade winds make travelling by yacht an enjoyable part of the holiday rather than simply a way to get around.

Road Town is a useful base for discovering Tortola, with shops, restaurants and a working harbour. The pace is relaxed, and you will find it easy to settle into island time while sampling local dishes such as fresh fish, grilled chicken, roti and Caribbean-style stews.

Evenings are usually informal. Choose a waterside restaurant for dinner, listen to live music at a beach bar or simply watch the sun set over the neighbouring islands. Wherever you stay, friendly service and a welcoming atmosphere are part of the appeal.
