Bermuda Cycling Holidays

Why Choose February?

February is an excellent time for a Bermuda cycling holiday if you prefer comfortable temperatures and quieter roads. The island is pleasantly mild, with fresh breezes from the Atlantic and plenty of sunshine between passing showers. It is a welcome escape from the grey and chilly weather often found in the UK.

You will not find Bermuda at its busiest in February, so the atmosphere feels relaxed and unhurried. There is more space to enjoy scenic lanes, waterfront paths and village cafés, while accommodation and excursions can offer better value than during the peak summer months. Pack layers and a light waterproof jacket, and you will be ready for changeable conditions.

Cycling Around Bermuda

Bermuda is remarkably well suited to exploring by bicycle. Its winding roads pass white-roofed cottages, old stone walls, small harbours and stretches of glittering coastline. The island is compact, making it possible to combine a morning ride with time on the beach, a relaxed lunch or an afternoon visiting historic sights.

Take your time on the quieter roads around Flatts, Smith’s and St George’s. The routes are rarely flat for long, but the short climbs are manageable and the rewards are excellent views. Bermuda also has a strong culture of considerate road use, although cyclists should keep left, ride defensively and use lights when visibility is poor.

Routes And Experiences

A ride along the North Shore reveals calm bays, wooded sections and glimpses of the open sea. Around St George’s, you can combine cycling with a visit to one of Bermuda’s historic forts or wander through lanes lined with pastel-coloured buildings. The Railway Trail is another appealing option, offering a quieter route through the island’s countryside and former railway landscapes.

For a memorable day out, plan a coastal ride towards the West End and pause at a viewpoint near Gibbs Hill Lighthouse. You may also spot seabirds, colourful fish in clear shallows and the occasional sailboat moving across the horizon. Local bike hire companies can advise on suitable routes, provide helmets and help arrange electric bicycles for hillier itineraries.

Beyond The Saddle

February gives you plenty of time to enjoy Bermuda beyond its cycling routes. Visit the National Museum of Bermuda, explore the atmospheric streets of St George’s or take a boat trip in search of coastal views. The island’s restaurants serve fresh seafood, traditional codfish dishes and international food, so refuelling is never difficult.

There is also time for a peaceful walk on a pink-sand beach or a visit to the Crystal and Fantasy Caves. Whether you are an experienced rider or simply enjoy gentle sightseeing on two wheels, Bermuda in February offers an inviting mix of activity, scenery and laid-back island life.
