January sunshine for everyone

January is an excellent time for a family holiday in Grenada. While the UK is wrapped up in winter coats, the island enjoys warm days, bright skies and a refreshing sea breeze. Temperatures usually sit around 25 to 29°C, making it easy to spend long, comfortable days outdoors.

For a quieter change of scene, try Morne Rouge Beach, often known as BBC Beach. It is smaller and sheltered, with calm water that suits younger children. Pack a picnic, bring a bucket and spade, and settle in for an unhurried afternoon beside one of Grenada’s prettiest bays.

Adventures beyond the sand

Grenada is compact enough to explore without spending all day in the car. Visit Annandale Falls to see water tumbling through lush greenery, or take a gentle walk through Grand Etang National Park. The island’s forests feel cool and peaceful, and older children will enjoy spotting birds and colourful plants along the way.

A boat trip is another memorable option. Choose a short cruise along the coast, look out for turtles and seabirds, and stop for a swim in a quiet cove. If your family enjoys snorkelling, the clear water around the Molinere Underwater Sculpture Park offers an unusual introduction to Grenada’s marine life, although younger children may prefer simply looking from the boat.
