Grenada Diving February

Why Dive Grenada in February?

February is one of the best months for scuba diving in Grenada. The island is enjoying its dry season, so days are generally warm, bright and comfortable, while the sea is often calm enough for enjoyable boat trips between dive sites. Visibility can be excellent, giving you a clear view of colourful coral, sponge-covered walls and the reef fish that make Grenada such a rewarding destination.

Water temperatures are usually around 27°C, making a thin wetsuit or shorty a sensible choice for longer dives. Above the surface, temperatures are pleasantly tropical without feeling quite as humid as later in the year. It is an ideal time to combine diving with beach days, island sightseeing and relaxed evenings in one of the Caribbean’s most welcoming islands.

Wreck Diving Highlights

Grenada is known as the Wreck Diving Capital of the Caribbean, and February is a brilliant time to explore its underwater history. The famous Bianca C, often called the Titanic of the Caribbean, lies offshore in deeper water and attracts experienced divers with its impressive size, open areas and thriving marine life. Local dive centres can advise whether conditions and your experience level are suitable.

Closer to shore, the wrecks around Grand Anse and St George’s provide plenty of choice for newer divers and those who prefer shorter boat journeys. You may see barracuda, angelfish, moray eels and clouds of smaller reef fish moving around the structures. Each site has its own character, so a few days of diving can feel like a varied underwater tour rather than a repeat experience.

Reefs and Marine Life

Grenada’s reefs offer much more than wrecks. At Molinere Underwater Sculpture Park, divers and snorkellers can view a fascinating collection of sculptures beneath the surface, where coral growth and passing fish have gradually become part of the artwork. It is an unusual and memorable dive, especially when sunlight filters through the clear water.

Other sites feature coral gardens, pinnacles, sandy channels and dramatic drop-offs. Keep your eyes open for turtles, rays, seahorses and colourful schools of fish, as well as tiny creatures tucked into sponges and crevices. February’s generally good visibility makes it easier to appreciate the detail of the reef while allowing photographers plenty of opportunities.

Planning Your Dive Trip

Most visitors base themselves near Grand Anse Beach or St George’s, where reputable dive centres offer guided trips, equipment hire and courses for beginners. If you are new to scuba diving, February is a good time to learn in warm water with professional instructors. Certified divers should bring logbooks and certification cards, although operators can usually help with replacement details.

Allow time between diving and flying, and remember that conditions can change even during the dry season. Book popular trips ahead of your holiday, particularly if you want to visit the Bianca C or complete a specialist course. With warm seas, varied sites and friendly local operators, Grenada scuba diving in February is an excellent choice for an active Caribbean escape.
