Birdwatching in Guadeloupe

Guadeloupe is an excellent choice for a birdwatching holiday in the Caribbean, with a surprising variety of habitats packed into a relatively small destination. The main island has two very different sides, joined together like a butterfly. The forest around La Soufrière is rich, cool and wonderfully atmospheric, with streams, waterfalls and trails leading through dense vegetation. Look out for Guadeloupe woodpeckers tapping on tree trunks, along with hummingbirds darting between flowering plants.
