January Diving Conditions
January is an excellent time for scuba diving around Saint Martin and Sint Maarten. The islands sit in the warm Caribbean, with comfortable sea temperatures, generally good visibility and plenty of sheltered sites to suit different levels of experience. It is also a popular month to visit, so booking dives and accommodation ahead of time is sensible.
Water temperatures are usually around 26 degrees Celsius, making a wetsuit or shorty a comfortable choice for most divers. The dry season often brings sunny weather and lighter rainfall, while gentle trade winds can help keep the air fresh. Conditions vary from day to day, but local dive operators know which side of the island offers the calmest water.
