Why Visit in January?
January is an excellent month for a birdwatching holiday in Saint Martin and Sint Maarten. The islands enjoy warm, generally dry weather, while winter visitors from North America add variety to the resident Caribbean species. Early mornings are especially rewarding, with cooler air, gentle light and birds becoming active around wetlands, woodland and the coast.
A typical day might begin beside a lagoon, where herons stand quietly in the shallows and pelicans patrol the water. Later, you can explore scrubland, beaches and hillside tracks before relaxing over lunch with a sea view. January also offers a pleasant balance between nature and leisure, so there is plenty to enjoy when you are not carrying binoculars.
