Bahamas Adventure

Why Visit in December?

December is an excellent time for adventure holidays in the Bahamas. The weather is generally warm, bright and pleasantly breezy, while temperatures are more comfortable for active days than during the hottest part of summer. You can spend the morning exploring, the afternoon in the sea and the evening enjoying fresh island food.

The festive season also brings a lively atmosphere. Nassau and the larger islands have plenty of restaurants, music and local events, but it is still easy to find peaceful beaches and quiet corners. Whether you are travelling as a couple, with friends or as a family, the Bahamas offers a good balance of excitement and relaxation.

Explore Above and Below Water

The sea is the natural playground of the Bahamas. Take a guided kayak trip through mangroves, where shallow waterways reveal small fish, birds and the sheltered side of island life. Stand-up paddleboarding is another enjoyable way to explore calm bays, especially early in the day when the water is often glassy.

For more underwater adventure, book a snorkelling or diving excursion. Coral reefs, colourful fish and dramatic drop-offs make the islands particularly rewarding for beginners and experienced divers alike. December can bring excellent visibility, so remember to allow time for a boat trip to some of the quieter reefs away from the main resorts.

Island Adventures on Land

There is more to a Bahamas adventure holiday than beaches. On Grand Bahama, nature trails and national parks offer opportunities to see native plants, coastal habitats and birdlife. A local guide can add depth to the experience, pointing out wildlife and explaining how island communities live alongside the natural environment.

On New Providence, combine a visit to historic Nassau with a walk through nearby landscapes and coastal paths. Exploring on foot lets you notice details that are easy to miss from a vehicle, from brightly painted homes to small food stalls serving conch salad and other Bahamian favourites. For a different view, arrange a boat tour or a day trip to one of the outlying islands.

Plan a Memorable Trip

December is a popular month, so it is sensible to reserve accommodation, boat trips and diving excursions well ahead. Pack light clothing, sturdy sandals, swimwear, sun protection and a light layer for breezy evenings. Comfortable footwear is useful if you plan to visit nature reserves or explore historic areas.

Choose your base according to the experience you want. Nassau is convenient for culture, dining and a wide choice of excursions, while Grand Bahama and the family islands can feel more spacious and unhurried. With a little planning, your Bahamas adventure holiday can combine ocean activities, local discoveries and plenty of time simply enjoying the sunshine.
