Curacao Beach Holidays

March Sunshine and Sea

Curacao beach holidays in March are a brilliant choice if you want dependable sunshine, warm seas and a relaxed Caribbean atmosphere. The island sits outside the main hurricane belt, so March usually brings bright days, low rainfall and comfortable temperatures that make it easy to spend long hours by the water.

Expect daytime temperatures of around 30°C, with a gentle trade wind taking the edge off the heat. The sea is warm enough for swimming, while the breeze is welcome when you are walking along the shore or enjoying lunch at a beach café. March is also a popular time to visit, so book early if you have your heart set on a particular hotel or beach resort.

Beaches for Every Mood

One of Curacao’s best features is the variety of its beaches. Blue Bay is an easy-going option with soft sand, calm water and useful facilities, making it well suited to families and first-time visitors. Kleine Knip is smaller and more natural, with strikingly clear water and a peaceful setting that is ideal for an unhurried afternoon.

For excellent snorkelling, head to Playa Lagun, where the sheltered bay attracts colourful fish close to shore. Cas Abao combines a pretty beach with sun loungers and watersports, while Mambo Beach offers a livelier day out with shops, restaurants and a broad promenade. Whichever beach you choose, pack reef-friendly sun cream, water shoes and plenty of water.

Beyond the Beach

It is worth taking a break from the sand to explore Willemstad, Curacao’s colourful capital. Wander around the UNESCO-listed waterfront, cross the Queen Emma floating bridge and browse the small shops in Punda and Otrobanda. The pastel buildings and lively streets make the city particularly enjoyable in the softer light of late afternoon.

Curacao also rewards a little exploring by car. Visit the island’s rugged west coast, look out for sea turtles in the water and stop at viewpoints across the dry, cactus-covered landscape. At Shete Boka National Park, waves crash into dramatic inlets, offering a completely different view of the island from its sheltered beaches.

Easy Caribbean Evenings

After a day in the sea, Curacao’s evenings are refreshingly informal. Choose fresh fish, keshi yena or a simple barbecue at a waterfront restaurant, then settle down with a cocktail as the sun goes down. Many beach venues have live music or a gentle evening buzz without feeling too crowded.

March is a great month for combining beach time with sightseeing, swimming and good food. Whether you prefer a quiet cove, an active resort or a hotel close to Willemstad, Curacao offers warm-weather variety with a friendly, laid-back feel. It is the sort of destination where a week can be as busy or as relaxed as you want it to be.
