Martinique Instagram Hotspots

Caribbean Holidays, Martinique Instagram Hotspots, Colourful sunrise over Le Morne-Rouge and Mount Pelée in Martinique, lush tropical hills and soft morning light

Mount Pelée Views

May is an excellent time to explore Martinique with your camera. The island is greener than ever, the mornings are often bright and clear, and the changing light gives even familiar places a fresh look. For a memorable Instagram photograph, head towards Mount Pelée in the north, where winding roads, sugar-cane fields and forested slopes create a dramatic backdrop.

Le Morne-Rouge makes a useful base for an early start. Capture the mountain from a roadside viewpoint, or frame a local church, bright rooftops and tropical vegetation in the same shot. The best photographs usually come before the midday heat, when the air is clearer and the colours feel naturally vivid.

Black-Sand Beaches

Martinique’s southern beaches are famous, but the volcanic north offers some of the island’s most distinctive Instagram locations. Anse Couleuvre is particularly striking, with dark sand, dense greenery and steep cliffs meeting the Caribbean Sea. It feels wild and peaceful, especially when visited early in the day.

Bring footwear that is comfortable on uneven paths and keep your camera protected from sand and sea spray. A wide-angle view can show the contrast between the black shore and bright water, while a closer photograph of driftwood, palms or volcanic rock adds detail to your collection.

Le Carbet Waterfront

Le Carbet is one of the easiest places to photograph everyday Martinique. Wander along the waterfront and look for brightly painted fishing boats, small restaurants and views across the bay. In May, the late afternoon light can turn the sea a gentle gold, making this a relaxed place to wait for the perfect picture.

Try photographing the village from the beach, including a little foreground detail such as a boat or palm shadow. If you stay until sunset, remember that the light changes quickly, so arrive early and explore before settling on your favourite viewpoint.

Fort-de-France Details

Fort-de-France is ideal for lively street photographs and colourful travel posts. Explore the market around Rue Blénac for fruit, spices, flowers and local crafts, then walk towards La Savane for wide views and shaded paths. The city’s mix of historic buildings, painted shutters and busy cafés gives every walk a different photo opportunity.

Be considerate when photographing people, particularly market traders, and ask before taking a close portrait. Look beyond the obvious landmarks: a doorway, a tiled façade or a bowl of tropical fruit can tell a more personal story about your Martinique holiday.

Caribbean Holidays, Martinique Instagram Hotspots, Turquoise lagoon and palm-fringed beach at Les Salines in southern Martinique, viewed from above with warm afternoon light

Les Salines Lagoon

Les Salines is one of Martinique’s most recognisable beaches, and it is easy to see why. The curve of white sand, calm turquoise water and rows of coconut palms create a classic Caribbean image. Visit in May for a quieter feel than the busiest holiday periods, while still enjoying warm, inviting sea temperatures.

Walk along the shore to find a less crowded angle, or photograph the palm-lined path leading towards the beach. Keep your composition simple and let the natural colours do the work. With Fort-de-France, mountain scenery and hidden coves nearby, May is a wonderful month for building a varied Martinique Instagram collection.
