Volcanic Coastlines
Montserrat in February is a brilliant choice for travellers who want striking scenery without the crowds. The island’s volcanic landscape gives every photograph a strong sense of place, from black-sand beaches and rugged cliffs to green hills rising behind the coast.
Start around the west and north-west shoreline, where the sea is often at its clearest and the light is especially good in the morning. Frame the dark volcanic sand against turquoise water, then turn inland for views of palms, hillside homes and tropical vegetation. A wide-angle lens or your phone’s panorama mode works well here.
