Why Fish in January?
January is an excellent time to plan a fishing holiday in the U.S. Virgin Islands. The weather is typically warm and pleasantly breezy, while the sea is often clear and inviting. It is a welcome escape from the cold, dark days of a British winter, with plenty of sunshine for time on the water.
Winter fishing can also be rewarding because several prized game fish move through the surrounding waters. Depending on conditions and your chosen charter, you may have opportunities to catch blue marlin, white marlin, sailfish, wahoo, mahi-mahi and tuna. The exact catch is never guaranteed, which is part of the excitement, but local captains know where to look.
