March Adventures

Caribbean Holidays, March Adventures, Bright turquoise sea and rugged coastline at Playa Kenepa, Curaçao, with a small snorkeller exploring clear shallow water

Make the Most of March

March is an excellent time for an adventure holiday in Curaçao. The island enjoys warm, generally dry weather, with plenty of sunshine for exploring outdoors and a refreshing breeze that makes active days more comfortable. Daytime temperatures are usually around 30°C, while the sea stays invitingly warm.

With fewer crowds than the busiest winter period, March gives you room to enjoy Curaçao at your own pace. You can spend the morning hiking through a quiet national park, swim in a sheltered bay after lunch and finish the day watching the sunset from the coast.

Caribbean Holidays, March Adventures, Hikers walking along a rocky trail through dry cactus-covered hills in Christoffel National Park, Curaçao

Hike Christoffel Park

Christoffel National Park is one of the best places to experience Curaçao’s wild side. Trails wind through dry hills covered with cacti, aloe and native shrubs, while the higher routes lead to broad views across the island and Caribbean Sea. The climb to Mount Christoffel is especially rewarding for fit walkers who start early.

Bring sturdy footwear, sun protection and plenty of water, as there is limited shade on many routes. An early start helps you avoid the strongest heat and gives you a better chance of spotting local wildlife, including colourful birds and the island’s shy deer.

Explore Underwater

Curaçao is famous for easy access to clear, colourful water, and March is ideal for snorkelling and diving. At Tugboat Beach, a sunken tugboat has become an artificial reef visited by sergeant majors, parrotfish and other tropical species. The shallow setting makes it a good choice for beginners as well as experienced swimmers.

For a more ambitious outing, book a boat trip to the nearby uninhabited island of Klein Curaçao. Its white beach, bright blue lagoon and excellent reefs make the journey worthwhile. Choose a reputable operator, check what equipment is included and remember to use reef-safe sun cream.

Get on the Water

Adventure in Curaçao is not limited to diving. Kayaking along the coast lets you explore small coves, sea caves and rocky shorelines that are difficult to reach by land. Calm mornings are often the most comfortable time to paddle, with the breeze building later in the day.

You could also try stand-up paddleboarding, windsurfing or a guided sailing trip. Beginners will find local instructors and organised excursions, while confident visitors can hire equipment and create their own route. Always check weather conditions and follow local safety advice before setting out.

Caribbean Holidays, March Adventures, Colourful historic buildings in Willemstad, Curaçao, beside a waterfront promenade at golden hour

Add Island Culture

After an active day, explore Willemstad’s colourful streets and waterfront. Walk across the floating Queen Emma Bridge, browse the historic districts of Punda and Otrobanda, and stop for local food such as keshi yena or fresh fish. The city adds a welcome cultural dimension to an adventure-focused break.

March combines dependable sunshine, warm water and a lively but relaxed atmosphere. Whether you prefer challenging hikes, underwater discoveries or gentle coastal activities, Curaçao makes it easy to build a holiday around the experiences you enjoy most.
