Grenada Diving February

Why Dive Grenada in February?

February is one of the best times for a scuba diving holiday in Grenada. The island is enjoying its dry season, with warm sunshine, relatively calm seas and excellent underwater visibility. Water temperatures usually sit around 27°C, so most divers are comfortable in a thin wetsuit while exploring reefs, wrecks and dramatic volcanic scenery.

Above the surface, Grenada feels lively but relaxed at this time of year. You can spend the morning beneath the waves, enjoy a leisurely lunch by the sea, then watch the sun set over Grand Anse Beach. February is also a popular month for Caribbean travel, so booking diving trips, accommodation and equipment hire in advance is sensible.

Wrecks and Reefs

Grenada is often called the shipwreck capital of the Caribbean, and February conditions make it a superb month to see why. The famous Bianca C lies offshore in deeper water, offering experienced divers the chance to swim around a huge ocean liner covered with marine life. Its size and history make this a memorable dive, although currents and depth mean it is best suited to qualified divers with suitable experience.

There are plenty of shallower sites too. Coral gardens, rocky pinnacles and underwater walls provide homes for angelfish, barracuda, moray eels and colourful tropical fish. Local dive centres can match sites to your experience, whether you are taking your first qualifying dives or looking for more challenging routes.

Underwater Sculpture Park

One of Grenada’s most distinctive attractions is the Molinere Underwater Sculpture Park, near St George’s. Created from a series of carefully placed sculptures, it combines art, history and marine conservation. Divers can move slowly between the figures while schools of fish pass through the scene and corals begin to grow across the surfaces.

The park is also suitable for snorkellers, making it a good choice if you are travelling with people who do not dive. February’s clear water can reveal plenty of detail, and a calm boat trip to the site is an enjoyable part of the experience. Ask your operator about the best departure time, as light and sea conditions can change the character of the sculptures.

Planning Your Dive Holiday

Grenada has reputable dive operators in areas including Grand Anse and St George’s. Choose a centre that provides well-maintained equipment, qualified instructors and small groups where possible. A short briefing before each dive is useful, particularly as local conditions can vary between sheltered bays, reefs and offshore wrecks.

Allow time between diving and flying, and remember to bring certification details, sun protection and a light cover-up for boat journeys. When you are not underwater, explore the island’s spice plantations, waterfalls and quiet beaches. With warm February weather and a rewarding mix of marine sites, Grenada offers a scuba diving holiday that feels adventurous without being difficult to enjoy.
