January Diving Conditions
January is an excellent time to go scuba diving in Montserrat. The island enjoys warm, generally settled weather, while the sea is comfortable for long dives and boat trips. Water temperatures usually sit around 26°C, so many divers are happy in a 3mm wetsuit, although a little extra protection can make repeated dives more comfortable.
Visibility is often very good, commonly reaching 20 metres or more when conditions are calm. That gives you plenty of time to enjoy the volcanic scenery below the surface, from reef fish and sponges to dramatic drop-offs shaped by Montserrat’s rugged coastline. January is also a popular month for Caribbean holidays, so booking dives and accommodation ahead is sensible.
