Barbados Instagram Hotspots

Caribbean Holidays, Barbados Instagram Hotspots, Bright turquoise water, white sand and swaying palm trees at Carlisle Bay in Barbados, photographed in warm morning light

Carlisle Bay Beaches

For an easy first photograph in Barbados, head to Carlisle Bay, where soft white sand meets clear, calm water. The curve of the bay gives you plenty of space to frame a classic Caribbean beach scene, whether you are capturing the early morning light or the gentle colours of sunset.

Bring a waterproof phone case if you fancy photographing the bay from the water. Turtles are often spotted offshore, and a short swim or boat trip can give you a very different view of the coast. Keep your camera ready, but remember to enjoy the moment rather than viewing the whole holiday through a screen.

Colourful South Coast

Barbados’ south coast is ideal for lively holiday photographs, with bright beach huts, fishing boats and a relaxed atmosphere. Around Brighton Beach and the boardwalk, you can find bold colours and open sea views without having to search too hard for an interesting backdrop.

Walk along the coast in the late afternoon, when the sun is lower and the light is kinder for portraits. The boardwalk also connects several popular beaches, so you can combine photography with a swim, lunch or a refreshing rum punch at a nearby bar.

Caribbean Holidays, Barbados Instagram Hotspots, Historic Bridgetown street scene with colourful buildings, palm trees and colonial architecture in Barbados

Historic Bridgetown

Bridgetown offers a change of pace from the beaches. Its historic streets combine pastel-painted buildings, old stone details and busy local life, creating photographs with more character and contrast. Look out for the Parliament Buildings, Independence Square and the graceful Chamberlain Bridge.

The best approach is to explore on foot and notice the smaller details, such as shopfronts, painted doors and traditional Bajan buses. Visit earlier in the day for cooler temperatures, or return near sunset when the streets take on a warmer, softer appearance.

Caribbean Holidays, Barbados Instagram Hotspots, Dramatic Atlantic coastline, rugged cliffs and wide ocean views at Bathsheba on the east coast of Barbados

Bathsheba Rock Formations

Bathsheba is one of Barbados’ most recognisable coastal viewpoints. Large rock formations sit in the Atlantic surf, while the rugged east coast provides a striking contrast to the calm beaches in the west and south. It is a brilliant place for wide landscape shots that show the scale of the island.

Take care near the water, as waves and currents can be powerful on this side of Barbados. A viewpoint from dry ground is usually the safest option, and the changing clouds can add drama to your pictures without any editing.

Caribbean Holidays, Barbados Instagram Hotspots, Lush tropical garden in Barbados with exotic leaves, colourful flowers and a peaceful walking path

Tropical Garden Escapes

For lush greenery and close-up images, visit one of Barbados’ tropical gardens. Hunte’s Gardens, Welchman Hall Gully and the gardens around some historic homes are filled with palms, enormous leaves and colourful flowers. The cooler, shaded setting makes a welcome break from the beach.

Use a quiet morning visit to capture details before the paths become busy. Photograph textures as well as flowers, from twisting tree roots to patterned leaves, and you will return home with a varied collection of memories from your Barbados holiday.
