November Scuba Diving

Why Dive Barbados in November?

November is an excellent month for a Barbados scuba diving holiday. The island is warm, the sea is inviting, and the busy summer season is beginning to ease, giving you more space to enjoy the reefs and wrecks. Daytime temperatures are usually around 29°C, while the water remains comfortably warm at roughly 27°C.

There may be a few brief showers, but they rarely spoil a full day outdoors. Between dives, you can relax on a sandy beach, explore Bridgetown or enjoy a long lunch overlooking the Caribbean. November also sits just after the main Atlantic hurricane season, making it a popular time for travellers looking for warm weather and underwater adventures.

Clear Water and Marine Life

Barbados offers generally good visibility in November, often ranging from 15 to 30 metres depending on the site and conditions. The west and south coasts are particularly popular for calmer dives, with coral gardens, rocky formations and gentle drop-offs that suit both newer divers and experienced underwater explorers.

Look out for parrotfish, angelfish, trumpetfish and colourful wrasse moving through the reef. Turtles are also a regular highlight, especially around sheltered reef areas. With a little luck, you may see rays gliding across the sand or spot a curious moray eel tucked into a crevice.

Wreck Diving Highlights

One of the great attractions of scuba diving in Barbados is the variety of wreck sites. The famous SS Stavronikita rests upright on the seabed and is covered with sponges, corals and marine life. It is an atmospheric dive, with plenty to see around the masts, hull and surrounding reef.

The Carlisle Bay Marine Park is another favourite. Its shallow, sheltered waters contain several wrecks, making it a good choice for relaxed dives and underwater photography. November conditions can be ideal for taking your time and noticing the smaller details, from tiny reef fish to unusual growth on the metalwork.

Planning Your Dive Holiday

Local dive centres cater for a wide range of experience levels, from beginners taking their first lesson to qualified divers wanting deeper wrecks and guided reef trips. Choose an operator that is fully licensed, maintains its equipment carefully and provides clear briefings before every dive.

Pack reef-safe sun cream, a light cover-up and a spare layer for boat trips, as the breeze can feel cooler after diving. It is also wise to allow at least 12 to 24 hours between your final dive and flying home, depending on your dive plan. With warm water, fascinating wrecks and welcoming island hospitality, Barbados in November is a rewarding choice for an unforgettable Caribbean diving break.
