January is an excellent time for cycling holidays in the BES islands of Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba. The weather is generally warm, bright and pleasantly dry, making it far easier to enjoy a day in the saddle than during the colder months at home. Cycling Around Bonaire

Sint Eustatius and Saba
Sint Eustatius, often known as Statia, is a rewarding destination for visitors who prefer peaceful roads and a strong sense of history. Cycling around Oranjestad and the surrounding slopes reveals old stone ruins, green hillsides and broad views across the Caribbean. The pace is unhurried, and you are likely to encounter more goats and birds than traffic.
Saba has a much more dramatic character. Its roads climb sharply through lush mountain scenery, so it is not the easiest island for casual cycling. However, experienced riders can enjoy a memorable challenge, particularly when the reward is a clear view across the sea from one of the island’s high points.

January is a popular period for Caribbean travel, so it is sensible to arrange accommodation, bike hire and transfers early. Check whether your chosen bicycle is suitable for road conditions and ask local providers about recommended routes. A hybrid or mountain bike is often a practical option, particularly if you plan to leave the main roads.
Carry plenty of water, apply high-factor sun cream and wear breathable clothing. Even when the breeze feels cool, the tropical sun can be strong.
