Dominican Honeymoons

Why Choose February?

February is an excellent month for a Dominican Republic honeymoon. While much of the United Kingdom is cold and grey, the Caribbean is enjoying warm days, bright skies and a refreshing sea breeze. Average temperatures sit around 25°C, making it easy to spend your mornings on the beach and your afternoons exploring.

The month is also part of the dry season, so rainfall is usually limited and short-lived when it does arrive. February can be popular, particularly around school holidays and Valentine’s Day, so booking early gives you the best choice of resorts, room types and flights.

Beach Days and Resorts

For a classic February honeymoon, Punta Cana is hard to overlook. Its long stretches of soft sand, calm turquoise water and choice of adults-only and all-inclusive resorts make it wonderfully easy to settle into married life. You can start the day with a swim, find a quiet spot beneath the palms and watch the sunset with a cocktail.

La Romana and Bayahibe offer a slightly more relaxed atmosphere, with attractive beaches and access to some of the country’s finest marine areas. If you prefer a livelier setting, Puerto Plata combines beach resorts with a traditional town, mountain scenery and plenty of places to enjoy local food and music.

Romantic Experiences

A honeymoon in the Dominican Republic need not be all about the sun lounger. Take a boat trip to Saona Island, where bright sand and clear water create a beautiful setting for swimming and snorkelling. Many excursions include lunch on the beach, although it is worth choosing a smaller boat if you would prefer a more peaceful day.

Inland, you can visit a traditional cigar workshop, explore the historic streets of Santo Domingo or head into the hills for a guided waterfall adventure. Back at your resort, arrange a private dinner, couples’ massage or sunset sail to add a few memorable moments to your February holiday.

Planning Your Trip

All-inclusive holidays are especially convenient for honeymooners, as meals, drinks and many activities are included from the moment you arrive. When comparing resorts, look beyond the star rating and check the beach, transfer time, adults-only facilities and the quality of the restaurants.

Pack light clothing, swimwear, high-factor sun cream and something smart for the evening. February sunshine can feel deceptively strong, so take regular breaks from the midday heat and drink plenty of water. With the right resort and a little planning, a Dominican Republic honeymoon in February offers warm weather, beautiful beaches and plenty of time to enjoy being together.
