Why Visit in May
May is a rewarding time for a solo holiday in the Dominican Republic. The winter crowds have eased, temperatures are warm and the island feels relaxed without being sleepy. You can spend your mornings by the sea, enjoy an unhurried lunch and still have plenty of time to explore.
Expect daytime temperatures of around 28°C, with warm evenings that are ideal for outdoor dining. There may be a short tropical shower, particularly later in the month, but these often pass quickly and leave the air feeling fresh. Pack light clothing, sun cream and a compact waterproof jacket so you are ready for both sunshine and rain.
