A Warm February Escape

February is an excellent time for a Grenada city break, especially if you want winter sunshine with plenty to see and do. The town’s Georgian architecture, lively market and waterfront restaurants give it a distinctive character, while Fort George provides one of the best viewpoints across the harbour and surrounding hills. Take your time here, as the steep streets are part of the experience and often lead to excellent photographs.

The market is a great place to get a feel for everyday Grenadian life. Look for fresh fruit, spices and locally made products, including the nutmeg and cocoa for which the island is famous. February is a comfortable month for walking, but it is still wise to wear light clothing, use sun cream and carry water when exploring during the middle of the day.

Beaches and Sea Time

When you fancy a change of pace, Grand Anse Beach is an easy choice. February is also a good month for seeing more of Grenada from the water. Short boat trips can take you along the coast, to quiet coves or towards nearby islands, and snorkelling conditions are often inviting. Ask locally about sunset cruises, as watching the sky change colour over the Caribbean is a simple but memorable way to finish a day.

Grenada’s food is one of the highlights of a February break. Try oil down, the island’s hearty national dish, or sample fresh fish, grilled seafood and dishes flavoured with cinnamon, nutmeg and other local spices. St George’s has options ranging from casual waterfront cafés to smart restaurants, so it is easy to enjoy a different style of meal each evening.

Evenings are generally relaxed, with live music, rum-based drinks and friendly conversation rather than a frantic nightlife scene.
