Why Dive Martinique in February?

February is an excellent month for a scuba diving holiday in Martinique. The island is warm, bright and comfortably dry, with daytime temperatures usually around 28°C and pleasant sea conditions on many of the best-known dive sites. It is a great time to trade grey winter skies for clear water, volcanic coastlines and lively coral reefs.

Visibility can be especially rewarding during the drier season, often allowing you to see beyond the immediate reef. Discover the Underwater World

Martinique’s west coast is a favourite for scuba diving, particularly around Les Anses-d’Arlet and Le Diamant. Beneath the surface, rocky shelves and volcanic formations create shelter for angelfish, parrotfish, wrasse and schools of smaller tropical species. Look closely and you may spot moray eels tucked into crevices or graceful rays passing over the sand.

Experienced divers can explore deeper walls, swim-throughs and wrecks, while newer divers can enjoy shallower reefs close to shore. The water is generally warm enough for a comfortable tropical dive, although your dive centre can advise on the most suitable exposure protection and equipment for the day.

One of the most memorable dives in Martinique is around Le Diamant Rock, a striking offshore landmark surrounded by marine life. Currents can make some sites more suitable for confident divers, but the area rewards careful exploration with dramatic underwater scenery and excellent chances of seeing larger fish.

Near Saint-Pierre, divers can also learn about the island’s fascinating maritime and volcanic history. Wrecks lie beneath the water around the former capital, giving experienced visitors the chance to combine sightseeing with a genuinely atmospheric dive. Planning Your February Dive Trip

Book your Martinique dive centre and accommodation in advance if you are travelling during February, as this is a popular period for Caribbean holidays. Choose a base close to your preferred coast, and allow time between flying and diving in line with your operator’s safety advice. Many centres offer introductory dives, guided excursions and equipment hire.

When you are not underwater, enjoy Martinique’s beaches, Creole food and colourful towns.
