Cheap March Holidays

Why Visit in March?

March is one of the best times to enjoy a cheap holiday in Saint Martin and Sint Maarten. The weather is typically warm, bright and comfortably dry, with daytime temperatures ideal for swimming, sightseeing and enjoying a long lunch beside the sea. It is a popular month, but with flexible dates and early booking, you can still find excellent value.

This unique island offers two destinations in one. French Saint-Martin has a relaxed European feel, while Dutch Sint Maarten is lively, friendly and packed with entertainment. Crossing between them is easy, so a single holiday can include quiet beaches, waterfront restaurants, local markets and lively evening spots.

Beaches and Sea Days

Beach lovers are spoilt for choice. Orient Bay is famous for its wide sweep of sand, clear water and watersports, while Grand Case is ideal for a more laid-back day followed by a delicious meal. On the Dutch side, Maho Beach is a memorable stop where aircraft pass low overhead as they approach the nearby airport.

For a quieter atmosphere, head to Anse Marcel, Friar’s Bay or Dawn Beach. Pack a picnic, take plenty of water and allow yourself time to simply enjoy the view. Boat trips also make it easy to discover small offshore islands, snorkelling areas and secluded coves that are difficult to reach by road.

Food, Markets and Island Life

Saint Martin and Sint Maarten are famous for their food, and March is a great time to explore the island’s restaurants. Try fresh fish, grilled lobster, Caribbean barbecues and French pastries, then compare the different flavours found on each side of the island. Grand Case is especially well known for its informal eateries and excellent local cooking.

In Marigot, browse the market for spices, tropical fruit, crafts and souvenirs before stopping for a coffee or a rum-based drink. Philipsburg offers duty-free shopping, colourful streets and a lively boardwalk. These everyday experiences give the island its character and are often more memorable than a carefully planned excursion.

Finding a Cheap Holiday

To keep the cost down, compare package holidays as well as flights and accommodation separately. Staying slightly away from the main beachfront can offer better prices, particularly if your hotel includes breakfast or has kitchen facilities. Travelling midweek and checking several departure airports may also make a noticeable difference.

Hiring a car is useful if you want to explore both sides of the island, although taxis and organised excursions are practical alternatives. Plan a few free activities, such as beach days, market visits and scenic walks, alongside paid boat trips. With warm weather, wonderful beaches and plenty to do at your own pace, a cheap March holiday in Saint Martin and Sint Maarten can feel remarkably special.
