Caribbean Island Hopping

Why Choose Island Hopping

A multi-country holiday in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is a brilliant way to experience more than one side of the Caribbean. Rather than staying in a single resort, you can combine lively local life, quiet beaches and memorable days on the water as you travel between islands.

July is a particularly appealing time to visit. The days are generally warm and inviting, with plenty of opportunity for swimming, sailing and exploring. A well-planned itinerary can include Saint Vincent itself, followed by one or two of the Grenadine islands, creating a relaxed trip with plenty of variety.

Start in Saint Vincent

Begin in Saint Vincent, the largest island in the country and a rewarding place to get your bearings. Kingstown is busy, friendly and full of character, with colourful buildings, historic churches and markets where you can browse fresh produce and local spices.

Beyond the capital, the island is wonderfully green. Take a guided trip into the rainforest, visit a waterfall or enjoy views of the volcanic landscape around La Soufrière. If you prefer a slower start, spend time on a black-sand beach and sample fresh fish or traditional Caribbean dishes at a local restaurant.

Explore the Grenadines

From Saint Vincent, continue south by boat or air to the Grenadines. Each island has its own atmosphere, so choosing two contrasting stops works well. Bequia is easy-going and welcoming, with a pretty harbour, independent shops and beaches that are ideal for an unhurried swim.

Further south, Mustique offers a more exclusive feel, while Canouan is known for broad beaches and calm, clear water. Union Island has a lively, adventurous character and makes a useful base for exploring nearby Tobago Cays, where snorkelling often reveals colourful fish and graceful sea turtles.

July Activities

Water-based activities are one of the great pleasures of a July multi-country holiday in the Caribbean. Book a sailing day to discover hidden coves, or try kayaking and paddleboarding in sheltered bays. Snorkelling is rewarding around the reefs, particularly in the Tobago Cays Marine Park.

On land, allow time for short walks, village visits and leisurely lunches. July can also bring brief tropical showers, but these are often followed by sunshine and help keep the islands fresh and green. Pack light clothing, reef-safe sun cream, a hat and a light waterproof layer.

Plan Your Journey

A multi-country itinerary is easiest when you allow flexibility between islands and avoid packing too many stops into one holiday. A travel expert can match ferry connections, domestic flights and accommodation to your preferred pace, whether you want boutique hotels, family-friendly resorts or a mixture of both.

With its friendly communities, beautiful sailing routes and impressive choice of island experiences, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines makes July an excellent choice for Caribbean island hopping. You can return home with the satisfaction of having seen several destinations while still enjoying the relaxed rhythm of island life.
