Why Visit in February?

February is an excellent time for a nature holiday in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. The islands are usually warm, bright and pleasantly dry, making it easy to spend your days outdoors. Temperatures often sit around the high twenties Celsius, while cooling trade winds take the edge off the heat.

This is the perfect month for exploring beyond the beach. You can hike through rainforest, sail between quiet islands, look for seabirds and finish the day with a swim in clear Caribbean water. Saint Vincent’s interior is wonderfully green and rugged, shaped by the slopes of La Soufrière volcano. One of the best ways to experience it is on the Vermont Nature Trail, where a guided walk leads through rich rainforest near Kingstown. Keep your eyes open for parrots, hummingbirds and other native wildlife among the trees.

For a more challenging day, the climb towards La Soufrière offers dramatic scenery and a real sense of adventure. The route passes through changing vegetation before opening up to wide views of the island and the sea. February’s settled weather is ideal for discovering the islands by boat. From Saint Vincent, you can travel south towards the Grenadines, stopping at places such as Bequia, Canouan and the Tobago Cays. Each has its own character, from bustling harbour life to uninhabited beaches and protected marine parks.

The Tobago Cays are particularly rewarding for nature lovers. Snorkel in shallow, clear water alongside colourful reef fish, or look out for turtles gliding over the seagrass. A boat trip also gives you the chance to see dolphins, seabirds and the graceful outline of the islands from the water.
