Willemstad’s Colourful Waterfront
For an instantly recognisable Curaçao photograph, head to the Handelskade waterfront in Willemstad. Its rows of yellow, coral, blue and green buildings face the calm waters of St Anna Bay, creating one of the island’s most memorable Instagram hotspots. Come early for softer light and fewer people, or visit in the late afternoon when the colours look warm and lively.
Walk across the Queen Emma Bridge for changing views of the waterfront and passing boats. The floating pontoon bridge is a picture in itself, especially when it opens to let ships through. July usually brings plenty of sunshine, so keep water, a hat and sun protection with you while exploring.
