Curaçao Instagram Spots

Caribbean Holidays, Curaçao Instagram Spots, Colourful Handelskade waterfront in Willemstad, Curaçao, with pastel Dutch colonial buildings, calm blue water and a bright June sky

Start in Willemstad

June is a brilliant time to explore Curaçao with your camera. The island’s capital, Willemstad, is the natural starting point, with colourful buildings, lively streets and a waterfront that looks striking in almost any light. Early morning brings softer sunshine and quieter pavements, making it easier to capture the famous Handelskade without crowds.

Walk across Queen Emma Bridge for a wider view of the harbour, then turn back towards the pastel façades as the bridge gently moves with passing boats. The contrast between the vivid buildings, deep-blue Caribbean water and cloud-dotted sky makes this one of the easiest places to create memorable holiday photographs.

Find a Perfect Beach

Curaçao is known for its beautiful coves, and Playa Kenepa, also called Grote Knip, is one of the most recognisable. From the viewpoint above the sand, you can photograph the entire bay in one frame: bright turquoise water, pale sand and rugged green hills surrounding the shore.

Arrive before midday if you want a quieter scene and gentler light. Bring a waterproof phone pouch or small action camera, because the clear water is just as photogenic from below. A short swim or snorkel can reveal colourful fish close to the rocks, adding variety to your June holiday gallery.

Photograph Flamingos

For something a little different, head towards the salt pans near Jan Kok. Flamingos often gather in the shallow water, creating a wonderful splash of pink against the pale landscape. They are wild animals, so keep a respectful distance and use your phone’s zoom rather than walking towards them.

Late afternoon is a good time to visit, when the light becomes warmer and the birds may be easier to see. A simple portrait-style photograph works well here, especially if you frame one flamingo against the open sky. Remember that sightings can vary, but the surrounding countryside is worth photographing even when the birds are elsewhere.

Go Underwater

Curaçao is an excellent destination for underwater photography, with reefs close to shore and remarkably clear visibility. Playa Lagun, Tugboat Beach and Cas Abao are popular places to snorkel, while local dive centres can take experienced divers to deeper sites.

June usually offers warm sea temperatures, so you can spend plenty of time in the water without feeling rushed. Look for coral gardens, bright reef fish and the occasional turtle, but avoid touching marine life or standing on coral. The best photographs often come from moving slowly and allowing the fish to approach naturally.

Catch Golden Hour

Finish your day on the western coast, where the setting sun can turn the sea golden and bring out the textures of Curaçao’s rocky shoreline. Playa Porto Mari and nearby viewpoints offer space to settle in with your camera as the heat begins to fade.

For natural-looking images, face the light and include a person, palm or cactus in the foreground to give the scene a sense of scale. The island’s sunsets are never exactly the same, which is part of the appeal. With colourful streets, clear water and dramatic coastlines, Curaçao in June gives you plenty of inspiration long after your holiday ends.
