January Walking Weather
Martinique is a rewarding choice for a walking holiday in January, when the island enjoys warm, generally settled weather. Daytime temperatures often sit around 28°C, while sea breezes can make coastal paths comfortable for exploring. January is part of the drier season, so you can usually plan long walks without the frequent heavy showers found later in the year.
The light is particularly clear at this time of year, bringing out the colours of the rainforest, sugar-cane fields and fishing villages. Pack light clothing, sturdy walking shoes, a hat and plenty of sun cream, as even a gentle-looking route can feel hot in the midday sun. A light waterproof is still sensible for the hills, where brief showers can arrive quickly.
