Why Visit in January?
January is an excellent time for a birdwatching holiday in Puerto Rico. The weather is generally warm and comfortable, with less oppressive humidity than later in the year, while the island’s green forests, wetlands and coastal habitats are full of life. It is an especially appealing escape from the colder, darker days in the United Kingdom.
This month also falls within the wider winter birding season, so resident species are joined by visiting birds from North America. Early mornings are fresh enough for comfortable walks, and the light is often superb for photography. With good planning, you can combine rewarding birdwatching with beaches, historic towns and relaxed Caribbean evenings.
