Walk the Island

For land-based adventure, Saint Barthélemy has several rewarding walks. The route to Colombier is one of the best known, leading through dry hills and scrub to a beautiful, secluded beach. There is no road access, so arriving on foot gives the journey a satisfying sense of discovery.

Other trails lead towards dramatic viewpoints around Anse de Grande Saline and Anse du Gouverneur. Wear sturdy footwear, carry water and set out earlier in the day, when the air is cooler. The paths can be uneven, but the sea views and quiet surroundings make the effort worthwhile.

Discover Local Life

Adventure in St Barts does not have to mean constant exertion. Hire a small car or scooter and explore the island’s villages, viewpoints and beaches independently. Gustavia is a good starting point, with colourful buildings, harbour views, independent shops and cafés where you can pause for lunch.
