Birdwatching in April
April is an excellent month for a birdwatching holiday in the United States Virgin Islands. The islands are warm, green and lively, with resident species joined by birds passing through during spring migration. Longer days make it easy to enjoy an early walk, a relaxed breakfast and another wildlife outing later on.
St Croix, St Thomas and St John each offer a different birdwatching experience. You might explore dry scrub, woodland, wetlands or coastal paths in a single day. Pack binoculars, comfortable walking shoes, sun protection and a light rain jacket, as brief showers can pass through even during a generally bright spell.
