Curaçao Diving November

Why Dive Curaçao in November?

November is an excellent month for a Curaçao scuba diving holiday. The island sits outside the main hurricane belt, so you can usually expect warm weather, calm seas and plenty of sunshine, while the summer crowds begin to ease. Sea temperatures remain a comfortable 27°C or so, making long dives enjoyable in a lightweight wetsuit or even a shortie.

Visibility is often impressive, commonly reaching 20 to 30 metres and sometimes more. That means you have a good chance of seeing reef fish, sea turtles and detailed coral formations from a distance. Whether you are a newly qualified diver or an experienced underwater photographer, Curaçao in November offers relaxed conditions and a wide variety of sites.

Easy Shore Diving

One of Curaçao’s greatest attractions is its accessible shore diving. Many reefs begin close to the beach, so you can walk into the water, descend gently and find yourself above a lively underwater landscape within minutes. This makes the island particularly appealing if you like diving at your own pace or want to fit a quick dive around sightseeing.

Popular locations include Playa Lagun, with its sheltered cove and frequent turtle sightings, and Tugboat, where a sunken tugboat has become an artificial reef. Porto Mari is another favourite, offering clear water, healthy coral and the chance to spot the resident pigs on land after your dive. Local dive centres can advise on conditions and arrange tanks, guides and boat trips.

What You May See

Curaçao’s reefs are full of movement and colour. Look for blue tangs, parrotfish, angelfish and schools of snapper weaving through the coral. Green and hawksbill turtles are regularly seen around quieter bays, while moray eels often peer from cracks in the reef.

November can also bring interesting pelagic sightings on deeper or offshore dives, although nature is never predictable. Depending on the site, you may explore coral gardens, swim-throughs, drop-offs and wrecks. The island’s varied underwater scenery means that several dives can feel completely different.

Planning Your Dive Trip

Book your first dive or refresher session soon after arrival, especially if you are travelling during a busy school holiday period. A reputable centre will check your certification, talk through the day’s conditions and match sites to your experience. November weather is generally reliable, but a local briefing is still important because currents and visibility can change between bays.

Allow at least 12 to 24 hours between your final dive and flying home, depending on your dive profile and the advice of your instructor. Away from the water, leave time for Willemstad’s colourful waterfront, quiet beaches and excellent restaurants. Combining easy-going shore dives with Curaçao’s distinctive culture makes November a particularly rewarding time to visit.
