Colombier Beach is one of St Barts’ most rewarding stretches of sand. There is no road access, so you reach it by walking along a scenic coastal path or arriving by boat. Once there, you can swim, snorkel and settle beneath the hillside with little more than the sound of the sea around you.

For an easier beach day, head to St Jean, where soft sand meets clear, shallow water. It is a great place for a morning swim, and the beach is close to local restaurants and shops. The famous rocky outcrop in the bay gives the setting extra character, while the gentle water makes it appealing for families and casual swimmers.

Shell Beach, near Gustavia, is another favourite. Its distinctive shell-covered shoreline is ideal for a quick dip, an evening stroll or watching the sun lower over the water. August can bring occasional breezes and passing showers, but these are often brief and leave the island feeling fresh.
