Walk Through El Yunque
Puerto Rico is an excellent choice for a walking holiday, combining tropical scenery, lively towns and surprisingly varied landscapes in one easy-to-explore destination. A morning on a forest trail can be followed by an afternoon beside the sea, with plenty of welcoming places to stop for lunch along the way.
The island’s best-known walking area is El Yunque National Forest in the north-east. Paths lead through dense rainforest, past tree ferns, orchids and rushing streams, while viewpoints open towards the Atlantic coastline. Some trails are short and gentle, whereas others involve steep sections, so walkers can choose an outing to suit their experience and fitness.
