Dive into Bonaire
For an adventure holiday in August, Bonaire is hard to beat. The island is famous for its protected marine park, and warm, clear water makes it easy to explore the reefs whether you are an experienced diver or trying snorkelling for the first time. Many sites can be reached straight from the shore, so you can spend the morning discovering coral gardens and the afternoon relaxing on a quiet beach.
Look out for angelfish, parrotfish, turtles and rays as you move through the water. August is also a good time for a guided kayak trip through the mangroves, where calm channels reveal a different side of Bonaire’s wildlife. On land, hire a bicycle or join a guided mountain-bike tour through the dry countryside, passing cactus-covered hills and sweeping coastal views.
