June Birdwatching in the BES Islands
June is a rewarding time for a birdwatching holiday in Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba. These three Dutch Caribbean islands each have a distinct character, from Bonaire’s open salt pans and dry woodland to Saba’s steep volcanic slopes and St Eustatius’s quiet coastal landscapes.
The islands are uncrowded, warm and easy to explore at your own pace. Early mornings are especially enjoyable, when the air is cooler, the light is gentle and bird activity is at its best. Bring binoculars, a hat, plenty of water and a little patience, and you can expect memorable sightings in surprisingly varied habitats.
