February Birdwatching

February is an excellent month for a birdwatching holiday in Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba. Saba is compact but surprisingly rich in birdlife. The island rises steeply from the sea, and its higher slopes support lush vegetation and cooler, mistier conditions than the neighbouring islands. Trails through the forest can be rewarding for spotting Caribbean species, including hummingbirds and woodland birds.

Good walking shoes are important, as paths can be uneven and steep. Early mornings are usually the best time for birdwatching, when the forest is active and temperatures are pleasant. Even when a bird stays hidden, the changing scenery and peaceful trails make Saba a memorable part of a February holiday.
