September Diving Conditions
September is an appealing time for scuba diving in the British Virgin Islands, particularly if you enjoy warm water, quieter dive sites and a relaxed island atmosphere. Sea temperatures are generally around 28°C, so most divers are comfortable in a lightweight wetsuit or even a shorty, depending on how long they plan to stay underwater.
Visibility can be very good, often giving you a clear view of coral gardens, rocky walls and the tropical fish that live among them. September falls within the wetter part of the Caribbean season, so occasional showers are possible, but they are often brief. Dive operators keep a close eye on the forecast and can usually choose sheltered sites when conditions change.
