Why Dive in January
January is an excellent time for a British Virgin Islands scuba diving holiday. The islands enjoy warm, comfortable weather, generally calm seas and excellent visibility, making it easier to appreciate the reefs, wrecks and underwater wildlife. Above the surface, the trade winds bring welcome freshness without taking away the warmth of the Caribbean sun.
Water temperatures are usually pleasant enough for a long dive, although many visitors choose a lightweight wetsuit for extra comfort. January is also a popular month to visit, so booking diving trips and accommodation in advance is sensible, particularly if you want specific dates or a place on a well-known wreck dive.
