September Instagram Spots

Caribbean Holidays, September Instagram Spots, A panoramic coastal view of Saint Martin and Sint Maarten in September, showing turquoise sea, green hills and bright Caribbean skies

Picture-Perfect September

September is a brilliant time to explore the Instagram hotspots of Saint Martin and Sint Maarten. The island is quieter than during the busiest winter months, so you can enjoy its famous beaches, colourful streets and lively waterfronts with a little more space around you. Warm temperatures and soft tropical light make it easy to capture memorable holiday photographs.

Although the island is divided between French Saint-Martin and Dutch Sint Maarten, travelling between the two sides is simple. In one day, you can photograph a relaxed beach scene, a stylish café, a harbour filled with yachts and a sunset over the Caribbean. Keep your phone or camera protected from sand and splashes, and leave plenty of time to enjoy the view rather than chasing the perfect shot.

Maho Beach Action

Maho Beach is one of the most recognisable Instagram locations in Sint Maarten. Planes arriving at Princess Juliana International Airport pass remarkably close overhead, creating an exciting photograph or video as they approach the runway. The beach sits beside the airport, so the action is easy to find and the setting is instantly recognisable.

Visit around an aircraft arrival, but always follow local safety signs and keep a safe distance from the runway and surrounding areas. September can bring brief tropical showers, which often clear quickly and leave the sea looking especially bright. A wide-angle view can capture the beach, aircraft and dramatic hillside in one frame.

Colourful Philipsburg

Philipsburg offers a different kind of Instagram backdrop. The Dutch side’s capital combines colourful buildings, palm-lined streets and a busy waterfront, with Great Bay stretching beyond the shops. Walk along the boardwalk early in the day for softer light and fewer people, then explore Front Street for bright façades and local details.

Look for photographs that include the island’s distinctive architecture rather than relying only on posed portraits. A cool drink from a waterside café, a passing boat or a glimpse of the harbour can make your images feel more natural. September’s quieter atmosphere also makes it easier to pause and find an uncluttered angle.

Hidden Beach Views

For peaceful beach photography, head towards Grand Case, Anse Marcel or Friar’s Bay on the French side. These locations offer clear water, small coves and green hills, with a more laid-back feel than the island’s busiest beaches. Morning is ideal for smooth water and gentle light, while late afternoon brings warmer colours.

Grand Case is also a favourite for combining scenery with food. Photograph the shoreline before settling down for a relaxed meal in one of the village’s friendly restaurants. The best memories often come from mixing a few planned viewpoints with spontaneous moments along the coast.

Sunset From Above

Finish your September Instagram trail at a high viewpoint such as Pic Paradis or one of the island’s coastal lookouts. From above, Saint Martin and Sint Maarten reveal a patchwork of bays, islands and deep-blue sea. Arrive before sunset so you can photograph the landscape in daylight and watch the colours change.

Bring a light layer for the evening and check local conditions before setting off, particularly during the wetter season. Once the sun has dipped below the horizon, put the camera away for a moment. The island’s best image may be the one you remember without taking.
