February Instagram Hotspots

Beach Views Worth Sharing

February is an excellent time to explore Saint Martin and Sint Maarten with your camera ready. The island’s dry, sunny weather makes it easier to enjoy long days outdoors, while the clear light brings out the contrast between turquoise sea, bright sand and green hills. Whether you use a phone or a proper camera, there is no shortage of memorable Instagram hotspots.

Start at Maho Beach on the Dutch side, where aircraft pass surprisingly close overhead as they approach Princess Juliana International Airport. It is one of the Caribbean’s most recognisable photo opportunities, but remember to stand well back from the runway fence and follow local safety advice. For a calmer beach image, head to Mullet Bay, where gentle water and a wide sweep of sand create an easy-going holiday scene.

Marigot From Above

For a classic Saint Martin viewpoint, climb to Fort Louis above Marigot. The old stone fort offers a broad panorama across the harbour, rooftops and surrounding coastline. Go in the morning for softer light, or arrive late in the afternoon when the sun begins to warm the hills and the sea takes on deeper blue tones.

After taking your photographs, wander through Marigot’s streets and market area. Colourful stalls, local fruit, French cafés and boats in the marina provide plenty of smaller details for your feed. A photograph of a freshly baked pastry or a rum-based drink can tell just as much of the story as a sweeping beach panorama.

Orient Bay Colour

Orient Bay is one of the island’s best-known beaches and a reliable choice for bright, relaxed holiday photographs. The long shoreline gives you space to frame the water, beach bars and distant hills, while the gentle curve of the bay adds depth to landscape shots. Early morning is usually quieter and cooler, making it ideal for unhurried pictures.

Look beyond the main beach for natural details. Palm shadows on the sand, footprints near the water and small fishing boats can create simple, atmospheric images. February’s comfortable temperatures also make it easy to spend time exploring without rushing from one viewpoint to the next.

Sunset And Nightlife

As the day cools, Simpson Bay and Philipsburg offer lively backdrops for evening photographs. Capture yachts in the marina, colourful waterfront buildings or the last light reflecting across the lagoon. A table overlooking the water makes a good base for photographing the changing sky while enjoying dinner.

For the best results, avoid over-editing and let the island’s natural colours do the work. Take a mix of wide views and close-up details, and leave room in your itinerary for unexpected discoveries. Saint Martin and Sint Maarten are especially rewarding when you put the phone down occasionally and enjoy the view in front of you.
