March Instagram Spots

Caribbean Holidays, March Instagram Spots, Golden-hour view over Maho Beach in Sint Maarten, with a plane approaching above the turquoise Caribbean Sea and palm trees along the shore

Maho Beach Magic

March is an excellent time to explore Saint Martin and Sint Maarten with your camera ready. The island is enjoying warm, generally dry weather, bright Caribbean light and a lively holiday atmosphere. Few places create an instant holiday photograph quite like Maho Beach, where aircraft pass surprisingly close overhead as they approach Princess Juliana International Airport.

Arrive in good time, settle near the beach or one of the nearby bars, and check the flight boards before choosing your spot. The exact schedule changes, but the excitement is always the same when visitors look up and see a jet crossing the sky. Capture the moment safely from a sensible distance, then stay for the sunset when the sand turns gold and the sea takes on deeper blue tones.

Marigot Waterfront

On the French side, Marigot offers a more relaxed and effortlessly photogenic scene. Stroll along the waterfront to photograph the harbour, pastel buildings and small boats moving across the bay. In March, the morning light is particularly clear, making it a good time for colourful street scenes before the day becomes warmer.

Make time for the market, where baskets of fruit, spices, local snacks and handmade souvenirs add texture and colour to your photographs. Afterwards, climb towards Fort Louis for a wider view over Marigot Bay and the surrounding coastline. This elevated viewpoint is ideal for panoramic images, especially when the water is calm and the islands sit sharply on the horizon.

Happy Bay Escape

For a quieter Instagram setting, head to Happy Bay on the French side. Reached by a short walk from Friar’s Bay, this small beach feels wonderfully undeveloped, with pale sand, clear water and green hills framing the shore. It is the sort of place where a simple photograph of footprints, waves and a beach towel can tell the whole story.

Bring water, sun protection and sensible footwear, as the access path can be uneven. Visit earlier in the day for softer light and a better chance of enjoying the beach without large crowds. Snorkelling conditions can be appealing when the sea is calm, but always check local advice before entering the water.

Caribbean Holidays, March Instagram Spots, Sunset over Simpson Bay Lagoon in Sint Maarten, with yachts, palm trees and warm orange light reflected on calm water

Simpson Bay Sunset

As afternoon turns to evening, Simpson Bay is one of the best places to capture Sint Maarten’s easy-going energy. Yachts and small boats gather in the lagoon, while restaurants and beach bars begin to fill with holidaymakers. A waterfront table gives you a chance to enjoy fresh seafood or a cool drink while watching the sky change colour.

For the strongest images, arrive before sunset and photograph the boats in the softer light. Stay a little longer after the sun disappears, when the sky often shifts through pink, purple and deep blue. It is a memorable way to finish a day of exploring and a reminder of why Saint Martin and Sint Maarten are such rewarding Caribbean destinations in March.
