Walk Bonaire’s Coast
Bonaire is an excellent choice for a walking holiday if you enjoy open landscapes, sea views and a relaxed pace. The island’s clear waters and famous dive sites attract plenty of visitors, but its trails offer a quieter way to discover the scenery. Walk beside limestone cliffs, salt pans and cacti, keeping an eye out for flamingos in the shallow lagoons.

Saba is small, steep and wonderfully different from Bonaire. Known as the Unspoilt Queen, the island rises dramatically from the sea and is crossed by rewarding trails. The most famous route is Mount Scenery, which climbs through lush forest towards the highest point in the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
The path includes many steps and can be slippery after rain, so sturdy footwear is essential. In return, you get cool, green woodland, unusual plants and changing views through the trees. Local guides can add useful insight into Saba’s history, wildlife and traditional villages, making a guided walk well worth considering.
Discover Sint Eustatius
Sint Eustatius, often called Statia, combines fascinating history with peaceful walking routes. Trails lead through old volcanic landscapes, past historic ruins and up the slopes of The Quill, a dormant volcano covered in tropical vegetation. The crater trail is a memorable walk, with dense greenery and a real sense of adventure.
Conditions can be warm, and some routes are uneven, so take plenty of water, wear sun protection and allow more time than the distance might suggest. After walking, explore Oranjestad’s historic streets or relax by the coast. Together, Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba create a Caribbean walking holiday with plenty of variety, natural beauty and space to slow down.
