April on the BES Islands

Sint Eustatius Outdoors
Sint Eustatius, often called Statia, offers a fascinating mixture of nature and history. The Quill, a dormant volcano, rises behind the island and shelters a green crater filled with tropical plants. Guided walks into the crater reveal a quieter side of the island, with bird calls, palms and forest paths replacing the coastal sunshine.
You can combine a nature walk with a visit to historic Oranjestad or a swim in a secluded bay. The island’s reefs and shorelines are attractive for diving, while the slopes provide views across the sea and towards neighbouring islands. April’s settled conditions make it easy to plan a varied day without rushing between experiences.

Pack light clothing, sun protection, a reusable water bottle and comfortable shoes for uneven paths. A light waterproof layer is useful for sudden showers, particularly on Saba, and reef-safe sun cream helps protect the marine environment. Booking guided walks, diving and smaller island connections in advance is sensible, especially around Easter.
