Sea Adventures in August
August is a rewarding time for an adventure holiday in the United States Virgin Islands. The days are warm, the sea is inviting and the islands offer plenty of ways to stay active, whether you prefer gentle exploration or a full day on the water. St Thomas, St John and St Croix each have their own character, so it is easy to build a holiday around the activities you enjoy.
Start with a morning kayak trip through clear coastal water. Guided excursions can take you along quiet bays, past rocky headlands and towards small islands where seabirds gather. The water is often calmest earlier in the day, leaving you time afterwards to swim, enjoy a relaxed lunch or find a shady beach.
Snorkelling is another August highlight. Bring a mask and fins or hire equipment locally, then look for colourful fish around reefs and sheltered coves. Turtle sightings are possible in several areas, particularly around St John, although it is important to keep a respectful distance and never touch marine life.
