January in Paradise

January is an excellent time to enjoy an adventure holiday in the United States Virgin Islands. The weather is warm, generally dry and pleasantly breezy, making it easy to spend long days outdoors without feeling overwhelmed by the heat. St John is ideal for walking and nature-based adventures, with much of the island protected as Virgin Islands National Park. Trails lead through dry tropical woodland, past historic plantation ruins and towards viewpoints overlooking brilliant blue water. The Reef Bay Trail is a rewarding option for keen walkers, while shorter paths around Maho Bay suit visitors looking for a gentler outing.

St Croix also has plenty to offer away from the coast. You can cycle quiet country roads, visit the island’s rainforest in the west or take a guided tour to learn about local wildlife and history. Wear comfortable footwear, carry water and set out early if you want to make the most of the cooler part of the day.

St Thomas combines outdoor fun with easy access to restaurants, shops and lively harbour areas. Take the cable car up Paradise Point for wide views, then head to a beach such as Magens Bay for swimming or a relaxed paddle. A boat trip to nearby cays can add another memorable day to your itinerary.

January is a busy travel month, so it is sensible to reserve popular excursions and accommodation early.
